On April 16, a short video on Douyin showed vegetables donated by Liaoning being thrown into a trash bin in a residential compound in Shanghai’s Fengxian District. In response, the local government of Nanqiao Town, where the compound is located, issued a statement saying that some of the vegetables received on April 14 had rotted due to the long journey and had to be discarded. However, viewers of the video were skeptical, as many of the vegetables shown did not appear to be spoiled. Soon after, Liaoshen Evening News posted on Weibo, stating that the 2,300 tons of supplies donated by Liaoning on April 12 were transported entirely in refrigerated containers, with inspections conducted every five to six hours to ensure timely delivery to Shanghai residents.
