Recently, a chat record claiming “Shanghai COVID passes available through an agent — 1,000 yuan per pass,” along with a video showing “large crowds of shoppers at the Metro store in Putuo District,” circulated in various social groups. In response, the Minhang police quickly launched an investigation and brought in the individual involved, a man surnamed Chen (40 years old, an employee of a transportation company), for questioning. According to Chen’s preliminary statement, his company was responsible for transporting supplies during the pandemic and possessed relevant passes. In an attempt to show off to his friends, Chen took a photo of the pass and boasted in a WeChat group that he could help others obtain one, even though he had no actual ability to do so.
