On March 30, a netizen posted on Weibo seeking help, claiming that several housekeeping agencies in Shanghai had concealed the truth and, under the pretense of “recruiting for nursing homes,” charged each worker 1,000–2,000 yuan in referral fees to send 50 domestic workers into Donghai Elderly Care Hospital, where many patients and staff were infected — leaving the workers trapped. On March 31, the same netizen updated that the hospital, following government notice, had allowed the workers to leave, but refused to cover their quarantine expenses afterward. Several of the women were already feeling unwell, with uncertain infection status.
