Mei Kailin, 26, a chef from Wuhan, quit his job at the end of March after the COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai and went there to work as a food delivery rider. During Wuhan’s lockdown, after surviving on instant noodles for five days, he received noodles and vegetables from a delivery rider sent from Shanghai. From that moment, he resolved to repay the kindness. When Shanghai entered lockdown, he immediately set off. With delivery workers in short supply, he has been working 16 hours a day, even making his personal phone number public to voluntarily accept calls for help.
