A residential community was under lockdown for more than ten days without receiving any supplies. At first, residents didn’t think it was a problem. However, after learning that supplies were distributed the next day in Pudong’s western area, they started calling the government hotline (12345) and using the State Council’s mini-program. Later, they discovered that many donated vegetables were left to rot on the playgrounds of street schools. After media exposure, supplies finally arrived, and group buying and helpful residents assisting the elderly with grocery shopping began to emerge. The author summarized some methods and called for more people to engage in spontaneous mutual aid.
