Most of them closed in mid-March, and the suspension has already lasted for more than two months. For store owners unable to find a profitable online alternative, there is nothing to do but endure mounting rent, material and labor costs, as well as the unpredictable loss of customers. In an effort to save themselves, store owners have tried every possible approach. Yitiao interviewed 23 brick-and-mortar store owners in Shanghai, asking them four questions: How much have you lost? How much longer can you hold on? Do you have any countermeasures now? Will you still choose the path of running a physical store?
