一条|Interview with 23 Brick-and-Mortar Store Owners: May I Endure Until the Moment of Reopening

Starting from midnight on June 1, Shanghai will gradually resume access to residential communities, the operation of public transportation, and the passage of motor vehicles. However, most brick-and-mortar stores remain shuttered, still awaiting the day when work, production, and business can fully resume. Most of them closed in mid-March, and the suspension has already lasted for more than two months. For store owners unable to find a profitable online alternative, there is nothing to do but endure mounting rent, material and labor costs, as well as the unpredictable loss of customers. In an effort to save themselves, store owners have tried every possible approach. Yitiao interviewed 23 brick-and-mortar store owners in Shanghai, asking them four questions: How much have you lost? How much longer can you hold on? Do you have any countermeasures now? Will you still choose the path of running a physical store?
